The Assin Akropong Youth Association (AAYA) has appealed to the Member of Parliament(MP) for Assin Central, Mr Kennedy Agyapong to as a matter of urgency get their roads fixed or face their wrath.
According to the Association, if construction work does not commence on the road by the end of July 2021, they will advise themselves.
In a release copied to MyNewsGh.com and signed by Mr Samuel Asamoah, Chairman of the Association, he said their roads have been in a deplorable state for quite a long time without seeing any facelift.
Significantly, the Association regretted that the Assin-Broyedur-road which is a prime road connecting the northern part of the Central Region to the Eastern Region had deteriorated beyond repair.
“It is obvious that politicians have taken the good people of Assin-Akropong-Wurakese and its environs for granted. The current state of the road has increased the number of health-related, among others.”
“We now pay higher transport fares, business in the community has reduced drastically, farmers crying of rotten foodstuffs due to poor nature of the road and higher maintenance cost on our vehicles,” the statement said.
The statement further said: “several meetings and petitions to the Road Minister, Hon. Amoako Atta, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Nicholas Fifi Baako, Mr Kennedy Agyapong who even expressed worry about the situation and promised to bring back the contractor to the site has also failed us.”
The Association called on the traditional and religious leaders in the community to collaborate with stakeholders to get the roads fixed.
