Wenchi Court charges NPP 14k over Sene West parliamentary seat

The Wenchi District Court has charged the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) fourteen thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 14,000) in damages for not allowing the Electoral Commission to declare the results before challenging it in court.

The court has subsequently thrown out the case brought against the Electoral Commission over the 2020 parliamentary elections in Sene West.

The court ruling paves the way for the Electoral Commission to declare the results for the parliamentary contest in the Sene West constituency.

The NPP’s parliamentary candidate, Joseph Markay Kuma had filed the suit after expressing dissatisfaction with what he described as electoral irregularities in the Sene West constituency.
