Mahama sues Akufo-Addo and EC In Petition to Supreme Court




The Former President and the 2020 Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has filed a petition at the Supreme Court to contest results of the December 7 elections.


In the petition sighted by the media on Wednesday, December 30, former president Mahama cites his long-time rival Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the suit.


Mr Akufo-Addo, who won the elections, is the Second Respondent while organisers of the elections, the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC), are cited as the First Respondent.


The petition was filed at midday on Wednesday.


The NDC in a statement to announce the move said The Petition was filed pursuant to the party‘s audit of the 2020 Presidential results and extensive consultations with the National Executive Committee and Council of Elders of the party.
