Re-opening schools will put our children at risk – Dumelo to Akufo-Addo

Actor, John Dumelo has called on the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo not to be forced to open schools in Ghana earlier than anticipated.

“For me I will not advice that schools are reopened,” he told BBC Pigin in an interview monitored by thecrediblenews.com.

He noted that even when schools are reopened, no parent will want to risk the life of their children by sending them to school.

According to him, Ghanaian schools will be breeding grounds for COVID-19 and may put the lives of many at risk.

In his view, until schools are open, the government needs to ensure that PPEs are provided for all students and tests run on them.

He noted that in order to ensure that social distancing protocols are observed, there is a need for the government to institute the shift system in order for the students not to be crowded in their small classrooms.

John Dumelo called on the President and other stakeholders in education to fashion out a strategy to get all finals year students to write their exams because their inability to write exams will distort the academic calendar.
